RWA Announces Grants for Fire Departments and Emergency Service Organizations

Sep 04, 2024

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Sept. 4, 2024 — The Regional Water Authority (RWA) today announced a new grant program to support local fire departments and other emergency service organizations.

The RWA Emergency Responder Grant Program offers grants of up to $2,000 a year to organizations that provide volunteer and professional emergency services within the RWA’s service territory. These grants can be used to help pay for protective gear, communications equipment, training and other costs to support community fire and emergency protection.

“We’re proud to support our local emergency service organizations, both professional and volunteer, through our new Emergency Responder Grant Program. Every one of us owes a debt of gratitude to the men and women whose courage and dedication help keep our communities safe,” said RWA President & CEO Larry L. Bingaman. “Our Emergency Responder Grant Program is just one of the ways the RWA makes people’s lives better in the communities we serve.”

The grants are available to fire departments and emergency service organizations that operate within the RWA’s 15-town service territory. Individuals are not eligible for grants. The maximum available grant is $2,000, which can be combined with other funding sources to supplement larger funding needs.

Eligible fire and emergency service organizations can apply for an Emergency Responder Grant using the form on the RWA’s website. Grant applications will be accepted through Oct. 4.
