NEW HAVEN, March 18, 2014 – Construction begins this month on the installation of a new water main along Whitney Avenue. The South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (SCCRWA) will be installing the new main to increase its ability to deliver water to the northern section of its water system. The new main will run along Whitney Avenue from just north of Lawrence Road to just south of Tuttle Avenue. The project should take approximately three months to complete.
Drivers are likely to encounter delays on Whitney Avenue in Hamden in the coming weeks and months. During construction, Whitney Avenue may see alternating one-way traffic. Drivers may want to seek alternative routes during daytime construction hours, typically between 9 AM and 3 PM, to avoid delays. Roads will be restored to regular operations during non-construction work hours.
Anyone with questions about the project can call the Authority’s Customer Service Department at (203) 562-4020 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
