At the Regional Water Authority (RWA), we are committed to our communities and keeping the water flowing for our customers. One way we do this is through our participation in the Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP).
LIHWAP is a federally funded program administered by the State of Connecticut that helps low-income households pay for the cost of water service. The program was created to assist households who have past-due water bills.
LIHWAP can help prevent your water from being shut off.
If you get benefits from the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program (CEAP); Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP); Temporary Family Assistance (TFA); Social Security Income (SSI); State Supplement; State Administered General Assistance (SAGA); or Refugee Cash Assistance, then you will likely meet income requirements to receive a LIHWAP grant.
Benefits Per Household
• Up to a maximum of $1,000
• Paid directly by the state to the RWA
