Sunny joined the RWA in 2021 and brings over 30 years of progressive leadership experience in water, wastewater and engineering. He started his career in water working as an engineer for some of the top engineering consulting firms in the country. He served in a variety of roles with increasing responsibility, including serving as manager of design and construction on some of the largest water and wastewater facilities in the United States. Sunny also worked as a senior executive leading water and wastewater for two international design-build firms. He was responsible for strategic planning as well as engineering. Under his leadership, both companies realized exceptional expansion, growth and sustainability. In his most recent role prior to joining the RWA, Sunny was the managing engineer for a regional consulting firm in the water engineering sector.
At the RWA, he served as Vice President for Engineering and Environmental Services until his appointment as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer in 2024. He also serves as the current President for the Connecticut Water Works Association.
Sunny is a Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Madras in India, and dual master’s degrees in business administration-finance from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, along with a Master of Science degree in civil/environmental engineering from Boston’s Northeastern University.
