Consumer Alert: Always Ask for an ID

NEW HAVEN, July 17, 2015 - The South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (RWA) issued a reminder today to consumers to always ask for an employee identification card if someone comes to their door claiming to be from the water company. This reminder is a result of two incidents where a man or men posed as water company employees to attempt to gain access to homes in West Haven on Wednesday, July 15 and Friday, July 17. The men claimed that the residents had leaks and that they needed to come into the home to check the faucets. The residents did not let the men into their homes.

Curseaden of Milford has been elected to the Regional Water Authority, the five-member governing board of the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority, the non-profit organization that provides water to about 430,000 people in the greater New Haven region. Curseaden began his term on March 1, 2015.

Aquarion Water Company purchased the East Derby Water Works from the City of Derby effective October 16, 2014. The South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (RWA) has operated the system on behalf of the City since 2008 when the RWA acquired Birmingham Utilities and the City contract to provide water service to East Derby Water customers.
